Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has backed Dominic Szoboszlai as one of his successors at the club. He believes that the Hungarian has the hunger and hopes that he remains at Anfield for years to come.
Speaking to the media this week, Van Dijk said that he has no control over who becomes the next captain at Liverpool. However, he has backed Szoboszlai, seeing the former RB Leipzig star as capable of leading the side. He said:
Thanks for the submission!
“That’s all on the manager I think. I don’t know. Yeah. Obviously he has been very good. Also a player who I think can still make the next step in terms of being a leader for this team.”
“It starts by leading by example and that’s something he has done so far this season. But also everything around it; there is still progress to be made and that’s a good thing in my opinion so hopefully he will be very important for the years to come at L’pool.”
Szoboszlai has been in contract talks with Liverpool as he has less than 2 years left on his deal.
Liverpool star dreams of Real Madrid, says national team boss
Hungary national team manager Marco Rossi has revealed that Liverpool star Dominik Szoboszlai has dreamt about playing for Real Madrid. He claimed that Los Blancos were his only club from childhood and said:
“From what I’ve heard and what I know, and given the very good and direct relationship I’ve had with Dominik since he started playing football as a child, Real Madrid has been his dream. Dominik, ever since he began playing football, has had one dream: to play for Real Madrid. I don’t know if he wants to join Real Madrid or not, but at the same time, he’s currently playing for L’pool, a big team in the English Premier League.”
“I don’t know if he can take this step, because it depends on his personal decision, as well as the decision of his club. I don’t rule out the possibility of him staying at L’pool and renewing his contract there, especially since he is highly valued within the club. He is a very important player for L’pool, and L’pool is one of the biggest clubs in the world.”
Szoboslai has been in fine form for Liverpool this season and has been touted by Mohamed Salah as the best player in the world.
