Team India are taking on England at Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street in the first T20I of the five-match series. The Men in Blue recently suffered a shocking 2-0 defeat against Ireland in Belfast. As such, Shreyas Iyer and co. will be under pressure to come up with a competent effort in England.
In India, the live telecast of the five-match T20I series between England and India as well as the subsequent ODI series will be available on Sony Sports network channels – Sony Sports Ten 1, Sony Sports Ten 5 (both English), Sony Sports Ten 3 (Hindi), Sony Sports Ten 4 (Tamil), Sony Sports Ten 4 (Telugu) and Sony Sports Ten 4 (Malayalam).
Under normal circumstances, the live streaming of the tour would have been on the SonyLiv app and the website. However, the live streaming of the England vs India matches will be available on the JioHotstar app as well as the website. This is because, in 2025, JioStar and Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) announced a collaboration for India’s tours of England in 2025 and 2026.
As a part of the sharing arrangement, JioHotstar got exclusive streaming rights for India’s tours of England – Tests, ODIs and T20Is – for 2025 and 2026. On the other hand, SPNI retained the television rights for these events and hence the matches are being live telecast in India on Sony Sports channels.
What is Team India’s record in England in T20Is?
The Men in Blue and England have clashed nine times in the T20I format in England, with the hosts winning five matches and the visitors four. England beat India by three runs in a thriller in the 2009 T20 World Cup clash at Lord’s. The Englishmen also registered wins over Team India in one-off T20I matches in 2011 and again in 2014 in Manchester and Birmingham, respectively.
Team India, however, have won the last two T20I series played against England in England. They registered a 2-1 series win in a three-match series in 2018 and won by the same margin in 2022 as well. Overall, India and England have clashed in 30 T20I matches, with India winning 18 games and the Englishmen 12.
