Quartez Harris of Cleveland and Kerry Trautman of Findlay will be the featured writers at Lit Youngstown’s next First Wednesday Readers Series event.

Harris is Ohio Poetry Association’s 2021 Poet of the Year and the author of two poetry collections — “We Made It To School Alive” (Twelve Arts Press) and “Nothing, But Skin” (Writing Knights Press).

Trautman is one of the founders of ToledoPoet.com and the Toledo Poetry Museum Facebook page, which serves to promote northwest Ohio poetry events. Her work has appeared in dozens of journals and anthologies. Her poetry books are “Things That Come in Boxes,” “To Have Hoped,” “Artifacts” and “To Be Nonchalantly Alive.”

The program starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Soap Gallery, 117 Champion St., Youngstown, and will be followed by an open mic co-hosted by Lori Shelby. Admission is free.

Readings planned for the rest of 2022 include Alynn Mahle and Rochelle Hurt with co-host Barbara Marie Minnie on Aug. 3, Alice Cone and Jonie McIntire with co-host Emelia Sherin on Sept. 7, Lynda Montgomery and Toni Thayer with co-host Terry Shears on Oct. 5, Kelly Hambly and Jimmy Sutman with co-host Denise Sculli on Nov. 2 and Eric Harper and Julie Cancio Harper with co-host Skye Hildebrand on Dec. 7.
