Mr. Jeffrey Brancato, Vice President, Strategic Initiatives, NorTech
As Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, Jeffrey Brancato provides leadership for and executes a portfolio of strategic projects that increase NorTech’s capacity to accelerate Northeast Ohio’s economic revitalization. Jeff is extensively involved in efforts to develop and implement regional strategies for innovation-based economic growth, based on NorTech’s clusters and other technology sectors. The role of academic and research institutions in Northeast Ohio’s economy is a particular area of emphasis.
Jeff also manages NorTech’s government engagement and advocacy activities, working closely with partner economic development organizations in Northeast Ohio. He builds and maintains relationships with key business leaders in the community and represents NorTech’s President and CEO at various functions and meetings. Since 2012, he has also served as a member of the board of directors of Cleveland State University’s Research Corporation.
Prior to joining NorTech in September 2011, Jeff held senior administrative positions in academia, managing programs to expand research, enhance technology commercialization and strengthen connections to industry. He was Associate Vice President for Economic Development at the University of Massachusetts, where he ran a research investment program for the five-campus system and managed industrial partnerships. He had similar responsibilities as the Director for Economic Development Initiatives at Columbia University.
Jeff holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Williams College and a Master of Public Administration from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.
