PARKERSBURG – The Blues Cowboys will perform 7-8 p.m. Thursday in the Artsbridge Summer Music in the Park Concert Series.

The Blues Cowboys deliver rocking, danceable versions of blues, soul and country classics. Bassist David McPherson and drummer David Leach have played together since the 1970’s.

McPherson, whose previous musical ventures have included Holberg Hollow, McPherson Strut, Even Steven, The Ed Michael Band and Five guys Named Moe, leads the band and belts out lead vocals.

Leach’s past musical credits include The Proof and playing blues and rock with John Pelletier and Craig Fuller of Pure Prairie League and Little Feat fame, Holberg Hollow, Jasper, McPherson Strut and The Ed Michael Band.

Lead and rhythm guitar and vocals are provided by Mike Thompson, formerly of Cinder Alley. John Wetzel, formerly of Whip & Tickle, adds bluesy lead vocals, Chicago-style amplified harmonica and guitar.

Michael Tobar has been playing blues, jazz and rock in the area for the past 30 years. Originally from Pennsylvania and playing professionally since the age of 15, Tobar is happy to be the newest Cowboy and adding his piano and B-3 organ to the mix.

Concerts are held at the bandshell at City Park. The venue is moved to the horseshoe pits in the event of rain.

Artsbridge is celebrating the free concert series’ 20th anniversary with drawings, giveaways and food trucks. Lawn chairs are recommended.

Donations will be collected for Arts in Education programs benefiting local schools in the Mid-Ohio Valley. The Blues Cowboys are sponsored by Erie Insurance.
