Akron City Council’s next meeting will be virtual


Akron City Council’s first meeting since protests began over the June 27 Akron police shooting of Jayland Walker will be completely virtual.

Akron City Council announced Friday that its Monday council and committee meetings and public hearings will be online “in deference to the challenges facing our city and residents at this time.”

There will be no physical access for members of the public or press. Real-time access to the meetings will be provided through a livestream of the videoconference on YouTube which can be accessed through www.akroncitycouncil.org. 

Those who wish to participate in the July 11 public hearings via videoconference should contact the Clerk’s Office at 330-375-2256 or sbiviano@akronohio.gov.
