A WWE superstar has addressed wedding rumors linked to his recent booking. The star recently lost a title match just weeks ahead of WrestleMania 42.
Last week on SmackDown, Carmelo Hayes defended the United States championship against Sami Zayn. The match went back-and-forth and saw high-flying action.

Toward the end, Trick Williams inadvertently helped Zayn win the match and capture the US title. This title change close to WrestleMania raised eyebrows. Moreover, it was announced that Zayn would defend the title against Trick at the Show of Shows in Las Vegas.
This meant Carmelo Hayes will miss out on competing on the marquee show, and many fans wondered if it had to do with his upcoming wedding.
During an appearance on the Battleground Podcast, he was asked to address the rumors that his wedding played a part in the title being taken off him. Melo said that fans should tune into WWE SmackDown, as that would be the right platform to address it.
“This probably is not the platform for that. We’ve got SmackDown on Friday, and I think that would be a more appropriate platform to address what’s going on. I’m heartbroken that I’m not champion anymore. That was something I took a lot of pride in. We’ll see what’s on the table for WrestleMania, but as far as that goes, I think SmackDown is probably the appropriate platform for that,” he said.
Carmelo Hayes confirms wedding date with WWE star
During the conversation on Battleground Podcast, Carmelo Hayes did address the confusion surrounding his wedding with WWE NXT star Kelani Jordan.
After the couple shared photos of their engagement online, many fans believed they had already gotten married. However, Melo clarified that this wasn’t the case.
He said that the wedding will be in October, and the recent confusion was due to their engagement photos. He mentioned he was excited for it while adding that Kelani was handling a lot of stuff ahead of the big day.
