Maple Leafs forward Max Domi treated hockey fans to an absolute beatdown of 6-foot-5 Canucks D-man Marcus Pettersson during Toronto’s dominant win over Vancouver on Saturday night.

With 6:00 left on the clock in the 2nd period, Domi and Pettersson dropped the gloves and the 5-foot-10 forward landed a huge hit on Pettersson with his right hand, and then immediately switched to his left and caught the Canucks D-man offguard who was attempting to guard his face with his unoccupied hand.

“Max Domi loves to fight guys who do nit fight. It is comical,” wrote @jason051198 on X.

Some fans pointed out that despite Marcus Pettersson was at a major weight disadvantage, weighing in at only 174 lbs compared to Domi at 208 lbs.

Pettersson blows. What a softy

Petterssons like 150 lbs at that length. Borderline anorexic.

Got some of his pops in him after all

Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube lauded Max Domi for dropping the gloves against a bigger player, and reckoned his father and ex-NHL enforcer, Tie Domi, passed down some of his fighting skills to his son.

“When he takes on a way bigger opponent and does what he does, he can handle himself ….. He is good at it. The old man taught him,” said Berube about Domi fight.

The Toronto Maple Leafs shutout the Vancouveer Canucks 5-0, on the night William Nylander returned after missing six games due to a lower-body injury. He had one goal and two assists in the game.

“He’s a tough guy and he did a great job in that fight. It was fun to watch,” Nylander said about Max Domi’s scrap with Marcus Pettersson.

Joseph Woll stood tall and stopped all of the Canucks’ 29 shots on goal, for his second shutout of the season. The 27-year-old goaltender missed the start of the season due to injury, but has been the staple goalie for Toronto after Anthony Stolarz was sidelined indefinitely due to an undisclosed injury.

“That guy is fearless. He is a pretty tough dude. Not someone I’d want to fight. Glad he’s on our team,” said Woll about Domi owning Pettersson in fight.

Toronto’s offseason acquisition Mattias Maccelli was impressed by Max Domi’s fightnig style, especially his switch up from right to left.

“It was awesome. He threw a couple of rights and then switched to the left. I didn’t know he had that. It was unreal. He’s the heavyweight now.”
