An AEW star possibly hinted at a betrayal involving the TBS Champion Mercedes Mone by sending a social media message. The stars are set to team up for a big match this Wednesday.
The AEW star and current ROH Women’s World Champion, Athena may have dropped a tease regarding a Mercedes Mone betrayal. The two top stars teamed up multiple times this year and faced each other in a singles match once as well. Meanwhile, Mone and Athena are slated to team up yet again this week.
This Wednesday on AEW Holiday Bash, Mercedes will team with Athena, Marina Shafir, and Megan Bayne to take on the team of Toni Storm, Mina Shirakawa, Willow Nightingale, and Harley Cameron in an 8-woman tag encounter.
Reacting to the upcoming match, Mercedes commented the following on the above Instagram post:
“Found my KILLER TEAM 🤑”
Athena took notice of the comment by Mone and replied to it, saying she hopes Mercedes has her back this time, possibly teasing a betrayal:
“hope you actually have my back this time…”
Mercedes and Athena teamed up for the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship tournament recently as well. However, they lost and got eliminated in the quarter finals.
Mercedes Mone got a big win after multiple setbacks
Mercedes Mone was holding 13 title belts recently and felt she was on top of the world. At Full Gear 2025, Mercedes failed to capture the AEW Women’s World Championship from Kris Statlander. She also lost her ROH Women’s World TV title to Red Velvet at Final Battle, and it seemed like a slow fall from grace.
Nevertheless, The CEO recently defended her British Women’s Championship against Rhio at a recent RevPro event. Mone successfully defended her title in the end and stopped the string of setbacks.
Fans will have to wait and see what’s next for the AEW TBS Champion.
