Actor Steve Buscemi intervenes after bar fight in Dublin

by Ohio Digital News

Steve Buscemi “tried to help” break up a fight outside a bar in Dublin while taking a break from filming the latest season of Netflix’s “Wednesday”.

Buscemi, best known for his roles in “The Big Lebowski” and “Reservoir Dogs”, had just finished lunch at Bubba’s Fish Market in south Dublin when two men started brawling outside a nearby pub on Saturday night, the Irish Independent reported.

The 66-year-old Brooklyn native had largely gone unrecognized during his meal – until he and other bystanders went to check out the skirmish.

“He was very close to it, but he held himself back from breaking it up. He stood over the guy on the ground for a few seconds, and the fight naturally broke up after that,” a witness told the publication.

“Some people said he broke up the fight, but he didn’t. He tried to help, which is more than most people would do.”

He slipped around the corner and disappeared from the crowd after the fight dissipated.

Buscemi, who worked as a FDNY firefighter during the 1980s, was randomly assaulted in Kips Bay in May, suffering a harsh punch that left him with swelling to his face and left eye.

He has been spotted largely around Dublin as he continues filming for the next season of Tim Burton’s “Wednesday”. Previous seasons were filmed in Romania, but relocated to Ireland this season.

Buscemi is one of the newest additions to the cast and will debut as Barry Dort, the new principal of the show’s Nevermore Academy.
