The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported today that, while conducting operations in Gaza City last week, nine Israeli “commanders and soldiers” lost their lives in the course of “deep operations in the Shejaiyah area in Gaza City.”
The fallen soldiers belonged to the Golani Brigade, which was engaged in combat with Hamas militants from within civilian structures, as stated by the IDF in a recent Telegram release.
“In the course of the operational activity, Golani troops encountered terrorists who launched explosives at the soldiers and fired upon them from within a residential building containing underground terror infrastructure,” stated the IDF.
“Amidst the heroic battle, commanders and soldiers fell in action while providing assistance and rescuing fellow troops within the building.”
